A St Joseph police officer is back on the job, but not back on patrol, after his police vehicle hydroplaned into a median on US-36 Tuesday morning.
Commander Jim Connors tells us Officer Roy Wedlow was headed to an emergency call around 9 a.m. on the rain-slickened highway when his vehicle started to hydroplane. The cruiser was extensively damaged.
Officer Wedlow refused treatment at the scene but was later taken to an occupational medicine facility. Connors says he is still stiff and sore, but is back at work in the office until he's ready to return to the road patrol.
